A Child's Place Early Learning Center was founded in March of 2003 by Francine Zodda as an in-home daycare center located in her family Gurnee, IL. In 2005 their first center opened in McHenry, IL in a 5,600 sq. ft retail location which quickly grew serving over one-hundred families in the McHenry community. With the great success of the McHenry center, the business operations expanded to a second location in Volo, to serve families in the surrounding Lake County communities. By 2009 the McHenry facility was ready to expand to a new building development and with the help of many resources, they opened what is now currently A Child's Place of McHenry, described as a free-standing, self-designed, self-owned, state-of-the-art facility. In 2011, A Child's Place early Learning Center partnered with the Big Hollow School District in Ingleside, IL to create a program exclusively for school-aged children before and after school, inside the school itself. This program is known as A Child's Place of Big Hollow. In 2012, a third child care center was opened in Antioch to better serve families in that area, as well as the surrounding Lake County and Wisconsin communities.  This location is known as A Child's Place of Antioch.  Finally, in 2017, A Childs Place of Volo built its very own rendition of a free-standing, state of the art childcare facility.  A Child's Place Early Learning Centers love, teach, and care for over 450 families and employ over 60 employees.

We are very excited about the current status and future of A Child's Place Early Learning Center, and we want each and every family to know that caring for your child is an honor and a blessing, a responsibility not taken lightly. We promise to provide quality care for your child in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. We build our centers based on this principle and will continue to work hard so your child may have the best learning experience possible. A Child's Place Early Center is truly a place, "Where the LOVE of learning Begins."

Our Families

A Child's Place Early Learning Center adheres to the following definition of family:

"We may be related by birth, or adoption, or invitation. We may be belong to the same race, or we may be of different races. We may look like each other or different from each other. The important thing is we belong to each other. We care for each other. We agree, disagree, love, fight, and work together. We belong to each other."

- Boston Children's Museum Exhibit on Family Diversity

All families are welcome and celebrated in our program. We define family as those who are committed to each other over the lifetime of a child. Some families are made up of two moms, two dads, one mom, one dad, mom and dad, siblings, cousins, grandparents, foster parents, aunts, uncles, significant partners etc. We make no assumptions about with whom a child lives, who they love, or who loves them. Within the classrooms, teachers will discuss all types of family units, not just the traditional mom-dad-child structure. For special event at our center, we extend invitations to all who would like to attend.

Please share your family with us so that we can include, validate, and celebrate each child's family relationships as part of our ongoing interactions with your child and all of our children. We welcome you all and look forward to developing rich and supportive relationships with you and your child as we learn from each other throughout the year.

For being a part of our ACP family, Francine Zodda
