DSC00310Introducing Ms. Pattie - District Manager

Hello, my name is Pattie McCormick. My professional career with A Child's Place began in the summer of 2008 as a two year old room teacher, then acceped the Director position shortly thereafter.  I was the Director of A Child's Place of Volo until the summer of 2012, when I was then promoted to a new position created for the company as the District Manager.

I have been working in the Early Childhood field since I was 19 years old. I started out as an assistant teacher, and then obtained my CDA to become qualified as a lead teacher in ECE. I then took college courses to achieve my qualifications to become a Director of an Early Childcare Program.

I personally pride myself on being a very enthusiastic and take a hands on approach as District Manager.  My role as District Manager serves many puposes.  From seeking better teachers for our program and evaluting the needs of the centers to visiting classrooms to play with the children while assisting the teachers whenever and wherever needed. Being in and out of the Centers allows me to work very closely with my teachers to not only get to know them but also observe their teaching habits and help them become the best teachers they can be. I have also made it one of my priorities to know all children in the center as well as their families. Knowing the children and families that make up this center is one of the most important factors in running a successful childcare business.

My time outside of the Daycare Center is spent with my husband of 2 years, Matt and our four beautiful children: Tj, Jessica, Maddy and Emily. As you could imagine our children keep us very busy by enjoying family nights, camping and spending time with our extended family.

I am looking forward to building a positive and long term relationship with the families in all of A Child’s Place Programs. If ever I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Introducing Ms. Shaina - Center Director of McHenry

Hello! My name is Shaina Komin, and I am the Director of A Child’s Place in McHenry. I have been married for almost 2 years now, to a wonderful man named Steve. I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Illinois University, and have worked with children for the past 8 years.  I have worked for A Child’s Place for 3 ½ years. I was currently the Lead Toddler teacher at the Volo location, where it was very rewarding to watch all of the children grow in all aspects of their lives.  Now, as Center Director, I feel that I have found another rewarding experience.

I am happy to be a part of A Child’s Place family. I love coming to work at a facility where I have been fortunate to meet so many wonderful people. I enjoy watching the children grow and learn. I love seeing their smiling faces as they come in every morning and I enjoy the hugs I receive as they go home. I enjoy spending my time at A Child’s Place and working with all our wonderful families and the ones yet to come!  Please feel free to call or visit us for a tour at your convenience.  Let me show you how your family can be a part of ours.

Introducing Ms. Erin - Center Director of Volo

Hello!  My name is Erin O’Sullivan.  My pride and joy is my son, Jordan who keeps me busy.  During my professional career, I have experience working with children for over 10 years. I began my career in high school working part time at our communities park district that served before and after school children. I worked my way up from a RecreationalLleader to the Site Director. I then began classes at Harper College, in Palatine, where I obtained my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. I left the Park District Program and began working at childcare centers; it took me awhile to find the right fit, and a center that followed all DCFS rules and regulations. I then, found myself at A Childs Place and was happy to begin my career here in 2009.  I began employment as a toddler teacher and was also appointed closing Director Designee.

I have always been interested in the management side of the childcare setting and worked very hard to be where I am at today. I have taken courses to help me better understand the development and management of child care centers, and have had prior experiences in the management field. I am very excited to be the Director of A Childs Place of Volo, and know that with hard work and dedication I will be a success at this center.  Please feel free to call my location and schedule a tour.  I would be happy to give you a tour and help explain how our childcare centers can benefit your family.

Introducing Ms. Cori - Center Director of Antioch

My Name is Cori Damron, Center Director of A Child’s Place of Antioch. I have earned a CDA credential from the State of Illinois as well as an Associate Degree in Early Education from the College of Lake County and still am continuing my education. My previous experiences include working with children for 14 years ranging from childcare centers to nanny. My journey began over 14 years ago working as a volunteer in a school district in a 1st grade classroom, assisting the teacher with some classroom duties. What I enjoyed most was the relationships I was able to see between the teacher and the children. I truly was intrigued by the dynamics of a classroom and the role a teacher plays. From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to work side by side with children.

My first experience in a facility was in a corporate center, beautiful facility and great teachers, but what has always been a determining factor for me was to ask myself … “is this where I could see myself bringing my own child?” If I could then that would be a place for me. It took some time for me to find the right fit. My experiences went on to include a Montessori center as well as a nanny, responsible for 3 children and implementing a schedule for 3 and 5 year old. My best experience was working for a family owned center working with wonderful people for over 10 years. That is where I grew from an assistant teacher to the Center Director. It was a great experience that I am happy to have had, but I strongly believe that things happen for reason and this experience had to come to an end. After learning about a new opportunity with A Child’s Place of Antioch, with the center being built here in town, I knew it was something I needed to look into. Ultimately, I wanted to feel a part of something and be a part of a group that were all passionate for the development and education of children. I feel that I have found it here in A Child’s Place of Antioch.

I am also a mother of a 2 year old and I love every busy minute of it. She is very independent and a strong little girl. We enjoy every minute we can, if it’s not reading we can be painting and if that’s not what is passing the time you may find us at the local dog park. Spending that time with her is just so rewarding for the both of us, being active with her, and allowing new experiences is a very important part to her development. Becoming a mother after working in a childcare facility for 10 years really helped me understand the importance we play in a child’s life. To know that I help and mold children day to day in the experiences that they have, has helped me set my standards high for the care that we provide to all children.

I look forward to learning and growing with your family and thank you for taking the time to learn about our center and myself. I believe in the future of a child and in my care, your child will have a great start to setting a strong foundation in education, as well as develop a natural love for learning. Thank you.
